LOVE LIVES HERE! :)

IT’S VALENTINES DAY TODAY!!!

So I decided to love on myself extra specially today! Truth be told if you would have told me that I was going to spend THESE many years as a single chick on Valentines Day I never would have believed you. There was a time in my life many, many moons ago that I thought i would have nearly died if I was to be alone.

I decided to celebrate my love for myself today seeings as it is the World Known Day Of LOVE. Everyone, everywhere is sending cards, love letters, flowers, dinners out, romantic evenings planned. And then of course we have the haters of the big LOVE day, single sucks, boo valentines day, ban valentines day, boycott the day, smash eggs on the face of the day and so on and so forth…don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a few good laughs reading some of these posts, and tweets etc, and may have even rolled my eyes ever so slightly at all the mush and gush with the many, many love bird tweets and twittles.

BUT I will loudly and proudly admit I am a die hard love fan! I love to love, believe in love, I believe in love at first sight …even though my eye sight may have been jammed the first couple of times around but hey that’s ok:) hehe

I will borrow the movie title, “Twelve years a Slave” and say that “Nearly Twelve Years a Single” has taught me A LOT about love. Mostly how to love myself and to free myself from a whole lot of shit (clinical term for excess baggage & belief systems)

So in the beautiful tradition of sending a love letter to someone you love, I shall share with you the Ode to moi. A love letter to myself and that little girl that hangs out inside of me:)

Dearest Vanisha,

I was born to be yours. I’ve been thinking a lot about you lately, and I thought what better day to express my appreciation for you than on Valentines Day. I know you probably didn’t think or expect that you might be celebrating it as a single human still, but I also don’t mind that I get to share the day with just you again. I want you to know how much I enjoy your company, even when we hardly talk, the silence has become so peaceful. And then when we do have our talks…like WOW do we talk! We could talk for hours and hours and not run out of conversation. I also think your hilarious, even when others might not, or maybe they just haven’t caught up to your humour yet (you are quite funny) and your LAUGH omg your laugh is contagious, it’s so contagious in fact, that I noticed your sons like to laugh just like you, it might seem as though they could be mocking you, but I truly believe they just love your laugh that much.

I really am proud of you Vanisha, on more of a serious note, when I think back to that little girl you once were and everything that little girl faced and had to deal with and you just never let go of her hand. I know it was hard sometimes for you and I know you thought about letting go of her hand and nearly did a few times, but you didn’t. You kept fighting even when you didn’t know how to fight or what to do, but you just kept going. I want you to know how grateful I am to you that you did that, I think you’re pretty awesome Vanisha. I know it hasn’t been easy for you, you definitely have had some rough spots, I also know you’ve experienced a shit ton of shame, that shame is a life destroyer, a dream killer. I’m so glad and grateful that you chose to listen to what some of your close friends said about you instead of believing some of those stories in your head. I wanted to thank you for that because I know even that was hard to do, trusting in other people isn’t always easy, but you did it. They loved you through it and I seen how much you loved them and leaned on them. Support is so important, I’m glad you didn’t try and do it all by yourself.

Well chick, I just wanted you to know I love you. You’re doing a great job out there being yourself, keep going. I believe the best is yet to come for you Vanisha. I believe you will have all your hearts desires fulfilled. Happy Valentines Day to you, I hope you continue to have a fabulous day…maybe go for a run or something, I know how much you love those.

Love Your Friend, Vanisha. (the little girl in the big girl body, you know the one)

To all of you out there, whether your single or not, or maybe your unsure, in between whatever it might be. LOVE YOURSELF, give yourself the gift of YOU today, you matter, your worth it. Look inside yourself today and declare “LOVE LIVES HERE!”

happy valentines day:)

V~
